Legends never truly leave us. The Mighty Sparrow’s unmistakable voice, sharp wit and extraordinary contribution to calypso have left an indelible mark on Trinidad and Tobago, the Caribbean and the world. His music lives on. His legacy lives on.

It is important that we create spaces to honour legends who have gone before us paving paths for those of us who follow. Time is fleeting and we need to document and share the memories, accomplishments and lives of our legends.

The Trinidad and Tobago Carnival Museum’s mission is to collect, preserve, educate, entertain and inspire future generations in Trinidad and Tobago's carnival artforms and legacies. We aim to be the Physical and Virtual/Digital archive for Trinidad and Tobago Carnival. We recognize the importance of creating space to honour and reflect on the lives of the legends of Trinidad and Tobago Carnival, specifically in Mas, Pan & Calypso.

Despite our ongoing challenges to keep the doors of the Trinidad and Tobago Carnival Museum open it was important to create a space to honour and remember our legend. Through the generosity of our sponsors: Port of Spain City Corporation, Advance Dynamics, Bmobile, Scorch TV and Event Manager Nigel Roach, we were able to do just that. Thank you all.

The Event: On Thursday 15th October 2026 the Trinidad and Tobago Carnival Museum hosted a special tribute to The Mighty Sparrow. This tribute was a panel discussion titled “Reflections on The Mighty Sparrow.”

Our distinguished panellists, Dr Hollis “Chalkdust” Liverpool, Dr Rudolf Ottley, Dr Pelham Goddard and Calypsonian Twiggy shared insights and reflections on the life of one of the Caribbean’s most celebrated musical legends. This discussion was moderated by the well-known journalist Mr. Tony Fraser and took place at the Port of Spain City Hall Auditorium. It was a free event and was open to the public. Guests including foreigners in attendance were invited to share their thoughts, tributes and reflections.

For those of you who missed this engaging panel reflections, we have made it available on our YouTube channel. Click the link below to see the ‘Reflections on The Mighty Sparrow’.

Special thanks to our supporters who play an integral part in keeping these stories alive.
